Askew & Barrett (Pulses) Ltd was founded in 1982 through the partnership of G W Askew & Sons, a long established merchant servicing farmers in the Marshland area between King's Lynn and Wisbech, and Paddy Barrett who brought to the business a background of pulse trading. Since then the business has grown to become one of the leading pulse specialists in the UK.
Askew & Barrett (Pulses) Ltd have close links with UK Agricultural merchants and work closely with the trade and breeders to identify crops and varieties that can be used for premium and speciality markets both in the UK and overseas. Cleaning and grading operations service retail and food manufacturing businesses both at home and abroad.
Principals of the business are Paddy Barrett, responsible for trading and Darryl Askew, responsible for cleaning operations. Justin Barrett is co-ordinator of stock quality control and production and Christopher Askew is responsible for the yard and plant activities. Office administration and management support is handled by Jo Bates and Marilyn Huggins.
